BioSURE COVID-19 IgG Antibody Self Test FAQ’s
Here are some of the frequently asked questions about BioSURE COVID-19 IgG Antibody Self Test. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if there is anything else you need to know.
What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is the disease caused by the novel strain of coronavirus that is called by SARS-CoV-2. The infectious disease that originated in Wuhan City, China has now spread to other countries and regions and is posing as a serious health pandemic.
What does the BioSURE COVID-19 IgG Antibody Self Test look like?
The BioSURE COVID-19 IgG Antibody Self Test is based upon the novel barrel delivery mechanism used in our self-test, that has been proven to be highly usable, accurate and reliable since its launch in 2015. The test itself looks looks very similar to the BioSURE Self Test kit, from the device design to the components inside, with the exception of the test strip that is different as it detects neutralising IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 rather than antibodies to HIV.
What does it test for?
The BioSURE COVID-19 IgG Antibody Self Test detects neutralising IgG antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, that your immune system generates as a result of recovery from infection or vaccination, meaning you can make better informed choices from knowing your status.
How do I use the test?
The BioSURE COVID-19 IgG Antibody Self Test is an antibody test that uses technology very similar to that of a pregnancy test, but is housed in a novel barrel housing. The test detect the presence of IgG antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, not the actual virus itself.
Like our Self Test, our COVID-19 Antibody Self Test requires only a minuscule amount of blood (smaller than a drop, it’s only 2.5 microlitres – lab tests require at least 400 microlitres) that is automatically collected in the tip of the barrel device. Your buffer solution also comes pre-measured in a little pot, meaning you don’t have to measure anything or mess around with chemicals.
The BioSURE COVID-19 IgG Antibody Self Test is so easy, just 3 simple steps. As we say, just Prick, Suck and Poke. Your own accurate result in 20 minutes, wherever and whenever you want, even within the comfort of your own home.
How can I be confident in my result?
The BioSURE COVID-19 IgG Antibody Self Test has a true in-built sample control line. Unlike other tests that have what is called a procedural control line (which means any solution run through the test will make a negative result appear, even if you haven’t added any sample) the true sample control line MUST have enough blood added to make it appear. If it doesn’t appear it means you have done something wrong or not added enough blood. This is the only way you can be sure that you have performed your test correctly and your result is valid
