Why test for antigens?
Testing for antigens tells you if you have current infection. The Know Now Antigen Test requires only a SALIVA sample, so there is no invasive nasopharyngeal sampling, and gives you your easy-to-read, proven to be accurate result in minutes.
The real game changer though is how it works. Unlike all other antigen rapid tests, the Know Now Antigen Test detects the Spike protein (not the nucleocapsid protein), which is only available on live virus, so will therefore only show a positive result for true LIVE INFECTION.
It is now easier than ever to test your staff/students/customers/patients/ passengers and know if they are currently infectious, so we can reunite with confidence.
Why test for antibodies?
Antibodies are produced as part of the body’s natural immune response and are specific to the virus it is fighting. Testing for antibodies is the only way to know if you or your staff/students/customers have previously had COVID-19 infection or had an immune response to the vaccine.
We are all still learning about how long immunity can last and it is the neutralising antibodies that are critical, which are detected by the AbC-19 test. It is likely that repeat and regular testing is required and this will become increasingly relevant as the vaccine programme continues to be rolled out.
By knowing people’s COVID-19 immunity status it allows employers and organisers to mitigate risk and make better informed choices on both micro and macro levels. Should immunity passports be implemented, then antibody testing will become a requirement.
How to access testing?
At the moment, despite the BioSURE COVID-19 Antibody Self Test meeting and exceeding the MHRA Target Product Profile by the end of May 2020, it is currently not possible to supply our self-test into the UK. This is because of the perceived high levels of risk of people knowing their own antibody status on their own terms and these behavioural risks are still being addressed. Our self-test is available for procurement in many countries outside of the UK and is going through US FDA EUA.
In the interim, to do all we can for the UK we have partnered with national Occupational Health companies who are able to cost-effectively deliver testing services to companies within their own settings. The scheme works as a ‘test site pop-up’ with little disruption, efficient testing and accurate results given with minutes. All results can be captured and held securely within the BioSURE powered by PocDoc app, so that immediate information is available and an accurate picture of the overall wellbeing can be built up over a period of time. One healthcare professional can test 15 to 20 people an hour.
This ‘test site pop-up’ is also highly adaptable for multiple settings, including community organisations, events and travel.
If you have healthcare professionals on site we are able to provide simple on-line certified training (if required) and deliver next day, individual boxes to individual sites if required.
